Campfire Bananas

Sometimes we CAN reward ourselves with food, meet our needs and still sit in line with the food quality that we value for our health, body composition and performance goals.

A reward say, for sticking to our own plan and owning it.

It makes me feel great, I feel like I've had good food, it elevates my mood and I've got confidence I'm not off plan!

A 'dessert' like this is gluten free, dairy free, and apart from the marshmallows also vegan and you wouldn't even have to know that.

1 banana

30g 70% dark chocolate

1 heaped tsp (12g) almond butter

1 tsp raisins

7-8 mini marshmallows

Optional toppings:

Granola, toasted oats, dried fruit and milled flaxseeds, protein powder ganache, strained Greek yoghurt, diet ice creams…

Preheat oven to 180C

Make a deep lengthwise cut along the inside curve of your banana, not going all the way through, to make a pocket. Fill the banana with dark chocolate, raisins and marshmallows.

Wrap each banana in foil, making sure you leave a little opening on top for the marshmallows to brown. Lay against the sides of a deep roasting tray or use an oven safe dish or ramekin upside down to keep the bananas upright, cook 12 to 15 minutes.

Carefully remove and peel back foil and add your almond butter topping with the additions (if any) that meet your needs or preference.
